Every year, the Carmel Valley Trail and Saddle Club is host to various horse shows and clinics. With an all-purpose club house, BBQ grounds and facilities, many private groups also rent the grounds for meetings, parties and other gatherings. Central Coast Ranch Horse Classic

May 18 - May 19

Grounds.

  • California’s longest running AQHA Ranch Horse Versatility event is now a Ranching Heritage Challenge and a Golden State (Western States) Versatility Ranch Horse Association sanctioned event. Since the three shows run concurrently, enter more than one show for a much-reduced fee and earn points in multiple organizations. Since this opportunity is at a greatly reduced price, especially if you enter AQHA as well, the WS/GS prizes are minimal. We are offering prizes for the divisional all-around winners only. The Ranch Horse Classic spans two days, with all divisions in all three shows competing on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday begins with Cutting, moves on to Trail and concludes with Ranch Riding. Sunday begins with Reining, moves on to Cow Work and finishes with Conformation.
  • Both the Versatility Ranch Horse (VRH) and Ranching Heritage Challenge (RHC) shows are for registered quarter horses only. This means that riders on AQHA registered horses can earn points in Open, Amateur, Limited Amateur, or Level 1 (Rookie), Youth, Limited Youth, or Level 1 Youth. Additionally, participants may opt to enter individual classes and can earn AQHA points for that class only. The WS/GS show is open to any horse and sanctioned by the Western States Versatility Ranch Horse Association. You do not need to ride a registered quarter horse to participate! This show is also open to individual class entries. The Ranching Heritage Show is open only to horses that are Ranching Heritage eligible.
  • AQHA prizes will be awarded to Champion, Reserve Champion and Runner Up in the Open, Amateur, Limited Amateur, Level 1 (Rookie) and Youth divisions. There will be first place awards for class winners in the AQHA VRH and Ranching Heritage Challenge shows. There will be an award for the high scoring Heritage Horse, as well as a special award, donated by Sparrowk Livestock, a Ranching Heritage breeder in Clements, California. There will be no first-place awards in the WS/GS show, only awards for divisional winners. Also, there will be awards for the high point junior horse (3-5 years old), select rider (60 years and older), and Limited Open rider. These subdivisions must be entered and indicated on the entry blank for a nominal fee.
    • ALL ENTRIES must be made online. Use the ‘Enter Online’ button above.
    • Entries received after Saturday, May 4 will incur a $50 late fee (or $10 per individual class)
    • NOTE that general entries will close Monday before the show weekend at 5 pm (May 13). Individual classes that do not require cattle (Trail, Ranch Riding, Ranch Reining) will close Wednesday, May 15 at 5pm.
    • ALSO NOTE that although you may pay by either credit card or check, checks will not be accepted after the cutoff for late entries, Saturday May 4.
    • No scratch/drop fee if Tuesday before the show weekend or earlier; $85 if Wednesday before the show weekend or later (for these classes only: Cutting, Working Ranch Horse). All refunds are less credit card transaction fee (3%).
    • DOG POLICY: No dogs are permitted on the T&SC grounds during any show or clinic. The Trail & Saddle Club is a horse facility, and the safety of horse and rider is our first priority. Thank you for your cooperation.
